NASSIRI Sarah
- UB Postdoctoral researcher
I’m an organic chemist with academic background and professional experience in synthesis and catalysis. My journey in chemistry is highlighted by academic achievements especially in catalytic processes and heterocyclic compounds functionalization.
Biography
Postdoctoral Researcher
Université de Bordeaux, France | April 2024 – Present
I’m currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bordeaux. My project is on "Chemical modification of Lignin Fragments using Polyoxometalate Catalysts in Water". This project aims to develop sustainable methods for the valorization of lignin, a major component of biomass, into valuable chemicals and materials.
PhD in Organic Chemistry (Joint Supervision)
Université Euromed de Fès and Université d'Orléans | November 2019 – February 2024
I did my PhD under a joint supervision program between Euromed University of Fez in Morocco and University of Orléans in France under the supervision of Professor Saïd EL KAZZOULI and Professor Franck SUZENET. My PhD thesis was titled "Regioselective Functionalization of N-Oxides of Pyrazolopyridines via Palladium-Catalyzed C-H Activation Reactions". My work has contributed to the field of organic synthesis especially in the development of new methods for the selective arylation of nitrogen-containing heterocycles.
Master’s Project
Université Euromed de Fès, Morocco | February 2019 – July 2019
For my master’s graduation project, I worked on "Synthesis and Functionalization of Indazole Derivatives". This project was about designing new synthetic routes for indazole compounds which are important due to their biological activities.
Bachelor’s Project
Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEP), Meknès, Morocco | April 2017 – May 2017
During my bachelor’s I did a project on "Characterization and Purification of Wastewater from the City of Meknès". This project gave me hands on experience in environmental chemistry and analytical techniques, focusing on water treatment processes.
