We were very pleased and honored to welcome Professor Bernard Henrissat, CNRS Emeritus Research Director and currently with the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine at the Technical University of Denmark, for a seminar in the IECB Seminar Series.

On Friday, June 6, he delivered a fascinating lecture on the molecular mechanisms involved in mucin degradation, a topic at the core of his current research.

A world-renowned specialist in glycosciences, Professor Henrissat is also the founder of the CAZy database (Carbohydrate-Active enZYmes), a key resource for the classification of enzymes involved in carbohydrate synthesis and breakdownHis outstanding scientific achievements were recognized in 2023 with his election to the French Academy of Sciences, within the Division of Chemical, Biological and Medical Sciences and their Applications, in the Chemistry Section.

We are also delighted to announce that in 2025, Professor Henrissat has joined the IECB Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). We warmly thank him for his interest, trust, and support in the Institute’s scientific mission.
