The research interest of Pierre Maisonneuve is to decipher the molecular mechanisms of protein pseudokinases in human signaling. Pseudokinase proteins are crucial regulators of cell signaling and their dysregulation are implicated in many human diseases, such as cancer. Therefore, they are very promising therapeutic targets. However, much remains to be learned about the mechanism by which they regulate cell signaling and affect biological processes. To this aim, his group combines state-of-the-art structural biology (Cryo-EM, X-Ray crystallography and NMR), functional characterization of proteins and development of new chemical tools, which can serve as proof-of-concept for new therapeutical acvenues.
