In November 2011, a new visiting scientist joined the IECB: Andrew Goldsborough. Within the past 15 years, this British biologist submitted over 30 patent applications and created 3 biotech companies. Specialized in RNA stabilization techniques, he is currently developing new ideas within the team “Small RNAs and Aptamers” led by Jean-Jacques Toulmé (U869).

Donors and volunteers of the French association “Ligue contre le cancer” visit the IECB

On December 1st 2011, the IECB teams led by Sébastien Fribourg, Martin Teichmann and Jean-Jacques Toulmé opened their labs to 27 donors and administrators of the Dordogne committee of the Ligue contre le cancer. An experience that matters to the donors and volunteers of the association, who raise almost 40 million euros every year for cancer research at the national level.

A young IECB scientist awarded by the French Association for Cancer Research (ARC)


In October 2011, Neil Owens, 31, was awarded the Helen Starck prize by the French Association for Cancer Research (ARC). Since 2010, the chemist from Canada has been working in the team of Gilles Guichard on molecules capable of causing the death of cancer cells.

In October 2011, 30 senior scientists from the Japanese Strategic Alliance Project for the Creation of Nano-Materials, Nano-devices and Nano-systems spent a few days in Bordeaux in the context of the first France-Japan workshop held at IECB. During two days, French and Japanese research directors working in field of bio-inspired nano-architectures, materials and imaging got to know each other better through posters sessions, oral presentations and... An insider perspective on the EU programme T3Net

In 2009, Filipa and Isabel joined the lab of Elisabeth Génot at IECB in the context of a Marie Curie initial training network (ITN): T3net. This EU-funded programme, which brings together 11 academic and industrial partners, aims at providing European PhD students and post-docs with a topnotch training in tissue transmigration.
